1. I prefer parallel lines. It symbolizes co-existing with your partner and being in a relationship without totally losing yourself in it/the other person. You can love someone whilst still keeping your individuality and identity. You are side by side with another, while knowing and preserving your own self, independent of the other “self”.

  2. Child.

Was just reminded of this song by my friend Leonard- It’s called ANAK by Freddie Aguilar and I think it’s one of the most touching and inspirational songs. It has been translated into at least 10 languages and is internationally renowned.

Here’s MY literal translation of it. If you have any corrections or a more poetic interpretation/translation , I welcome suggestions.

    LISTEN TO THE SONG HERE

When you were born into this world

Your mom and dad were so full of joy

and their hands became your light

and your mom and dad— they didn’t even know what to do.

they were so worried that they even watched you sleep.

Your mother never slept because she was up all night making your milk

And in the morning, your dad carried you in his arms with so much love and pride

Now you’re older. You want to be free.

They’re disappointed that you grew up so fast, but it’s out of their control. You changed so suddenly, you became stubborn and you never looked back or took any of their advice even though they were given for your own good. They had all the right intentions.

You wanted so much to live your own life by your own rules that you ignored them.

Days passed and you lost your path. You found yourself trapped- in troubles and bad habits. And the first person you sought out for help was your mother, who welcomed you with open arms and tears in her eyes, asking: “what has happened to you?” And your eyes teared up, without you noticing.

You were filled with guilt and regret when you realised you were wrong…You were filled with guilt and regret when you realised you were wrong…You were filled with guilt and regret when you realised you were wrong…
